FAQ
What is the PNW Youth Trail Project? The Youth Trail Project is a collection of coaches and community members creating excitement and enthusiasm behind trail running for 12-18 year olds in the greater Seattle area. This is an informally organized group hoping to build a community around youth-focused trail running events.

Is this a free event? Yes.

What if I'm unsure of my ability to run trail or keep up with the group? We intend to make this group inclusive for 12-18 year olds. We have a no-drop approach which means the group or an adult will make sure the slowest member of the group has a buddy for the entire run.

Can parents participate? We will likely need a few adult volunteers. We hope to create an event and space for youth running. If you'd like to participate as a volunteer, please let us know in the 'Notes or questions?' section and we will follow up with you.

Will I get lost? We have adult volunteers who are helping organize groups and logistics. We encourage you to use the free mapping app Gaia and to download your intended route below. If you view this map while you have service, it will cache in your phone and you'll be able to identify your location in the field. Please make sure you cache the map right before going to the event, as your phone deletes cached items after a certain amount of time.

Can I bring a friend? Yes! This event is open to 12-18 year olds in the greater Seattle area. They must RSVP and sign a waiver if they would like to attend.
