2019 Winter 1/2 Marathon

Join the tens of thousands of people who challenge themselves every year to the fastest growing distance race in the country– the half marathon. This terrific 13.1 mile distance is challenging yet achievable. There will only be one official group, though this program will include both "FOUNDATION" (Intermediate) and "FAST" (Advanced) training approaches.  There is an assumption that participants will have had some experience with this distance and will have been training regularly in the weeks leading up to the beginning of the program.  We have an exceptional coaching staff to lead you in your training.  The training will focus on speed work and increasing your overall running volume. Runners coming into this program need to be running 3-4 times per week, have a weekly volume of 20-25 miles, and be able to comfortably run a 7 mile long run at the start of the program.  The FFRC coach will not be traveling to any particular goal race.  Instead, this program will prepare participants for a racing window of 4/6/19 to 4/14/19.

Kick Off Meeting:  Saturday, January 12th at 8:30amat Fleet Feet Sports

Program Details:
Tuesday nights you will be challenged with volume and a combination of hill work, form drills and speed workouts. Designed to help you run faster and more efficiently, you will be amazed with your improved overall fitness from these challenging and fun sessions.

Saturday mornings we will go the distance.  We will run long runs at an easy effort to build up your strength and stamina in preparation for race day.

Pacing: The pacing for this group will focus on helping you find your personal training pace to help you reach your goal time.  Your registration information sheet and our first practice will allow us to appropriately determine what your training pace and volume should be.  Your schedule will be tailored for your running pace and incoming volume that you will use throughout the program to help reach the next level in distance and speed.
