2026 Leander Half Marathon Fall Program
The Half Marathon (13.1 miles) training program is designed to help runners towards their fitness and running goals beyond the 5K and 10K distances; runners should be able to run 3-5 miles before the training program. It will include an education on the practical impact of different training techniques and tools to enjoy running further and improve your performance. There will be occasional clinics covering a wide range of topical issues on running, health, wellness, and nutrition from the area’s leading experts. The training group will meet on Tuesday nights at 6:30 pm and Saturday mornings at 7 am; each session will start from Fleet Feet unless advised in advance. Due to the nature of the training and the distances involved, there will be more than one occasion when the training program may occur at alternate locations around Round Rock and Austin. Tuesday night runs will focus on speed or hill work, and Saturday runs will focus on building distance. You will also receive a complete weekly schedule with five days of workouts listed to help prepare you for the challenge of running 13.1 miles. We may also decide to do a few distance races around town leading up to the goal race, the 2027 Spurs Austin International Half Marathon, on Sunday, January 17th.

Training Program starts Wednesday, September 23rd, with a meeting at 6:30 pm at Fleet Feet Leander, where you’ll meet your coach, mentors, and fellow members.
Our kickoff workout will take place on Wednesday, September 30, at 6:30 PM at Fleet Feet Leander.
Over the course of 16 weeks, you’ll join weekly in-person group workouts led by an experienced Fleet Feet coach and supported by mentors who have been in your shoes, some even past program participants.
Each in-person session includes a warmup, a workout tailored for beginners, and a cool down. On days when we don't meet in person, you'll have a schedule with training recommendations, and not to worry--these are adjustable based on fitness level.
You’ll also receive weekly newsletters with tips on injury prevention, hydration, motivation, and more. Throughout the program, you’ll be invited to participate in brand demo runs hosted by Fleet Feet partners and local community organizations to help you find the best gear and stay healthy for race day.
