Sweet As Tonya - Benefit 5K Run/Walk
The Sweet As Tonya Benefit 5K Run/Walk was organized to help cover the expenses for the Bruegeman family after Tonya was diagnosed with “Grade II Astrocytoma” aka “Diffuse Astrocytoma”. The tumor involves a large portion of Tonya’s right side temporal lobe, parietal and occipital lobes and is extending across into the left side of her brain. Daily radiation and chemotherapy treatments were started on August 28. The prognosis of this disease is not good and at this time there is no cure.

COURSE & TIMING
This event is open to all skills and abilities. This course is 5K (3.1 miles) starting and finishing in Sisters at 511 W. Hood Avenue (behind Les Schwab Tire Center). The course takes you west out to Highway 242 with a fantastic view of the Three Sisters Mountains and winds back through residential neighborhoods and returns to 511 W. Hood Avenue where festivities and the finish line await. The route is mostly flat and the course will be well marked. An aid station will offer water, and volunteers along the course will encourage and help direct participants.
This is a clock-timed optional event. You MUST wear your race number in order to be timed.
STROLLERS, PETS & MORE
Pets will not be allowed on the course or at the start/finish during the event. Participants who plan to take young children with them are asked to walk, rather than run, with strollers or other wheeled child carriers. Please do not bring any other wheeled devices, including skates and bicycles, onto the course. Wheelchairs, assistive mobility equipment and service animals are excluded from this policy. Thank you for helping to ensure that all participants have a safe and enjoyable experience during the Sweet As Tonya event.
Honor Tonya’s fight against brain cancer with festivities at the finish line including music, food, silent auction, massages and exhibitor booths. Participants 21 and over will enjoy a taste of Good Life’s Sweet As beer as part of their registration fee. Please note: drink ticket holders must present photo ID at the Good Life booth. Bring your family and friends and join in the celebration.
