Full Marathon Training Program 2017

Our Fleet Feet Sports Bloomington Full Marathon Training Program is designed to prepare intermediate runners for their first full marathon or to help seasoned runners meet a new performance goal.  Our training program will be structured for those completing the Chicago Marathon on October 8, the Indianapolis Monumental Marathon on November 5 or the Rock n Roll Las Vegas Marathon on November 12.  However, you can use this program to train for any race you choose or just to run long for fun with great people.

There will be an informational session on Thursday, July 13 at 7:15 p.m. at the store.  We highly recommend attendance at this meeting so you can learn how this program differs from our half marathon training program.  Our program kick-off and first workout will be Thursday, July 20 at 6:30 pm at the store.

Program Details:

When: Weekly group training runs are at 6:00 p.m. on Thursdays and 7:00 a.m. on Sundays  (Note:  Only our first Thursday session meets at 6:30 pm)

Where: The group will meet at Fleet Feet Sports Bloomington, Tipton Park, Rosa Parks, Jersey Hill and other places around town. Participants will receive a program calendar that highlights where the group will meet each week as well as weekly email reminders.

Program Cost: The program fee is $80 per participant.  Fee does not include race registration.

Participants will have the option to add a weekly strength training workout on Wednesdays at 6:30 pm with Positive Training at The Warehouse (1103 Martin Luther King Drive in Bloomington).  The additional fee for this option is $5 per session.

There will be two different strength training formats during our workouts on Wednesdays. Functional Circuit Training Wednesdays will focus on strength/power, while our Yoga Wednesdays will focus on strength/flexibility.  A strength-training program developed specifically for runners can help keep you healthy and out on the road, in addition to improving your speed and endurance. Targeted strength training for hips, glutes, and legs helps runners stay balanced, decreasing your chance of sustaining injuries related to strength imbalances or weak areas. A strong core helps runners maintain good form over as many miles, move more efficiently, and decreases strain on joints. It can also help with cardiovascular performance, allowing you to breathe more fully to give your muscles the oxygen they need to keep going.

As part of this Fleet Feet Sports Bloomington Training Program, you receive:
