Fleet Feet Pleasanton Triathlon 101

The Triathlon 101 Program is an introductory course to the world of triathlons by helping any beginning participant complete a Sprint Triathlon in 8 weeks. This class is also appropriate for experienced sprint triathletes that want extra coaching for improved performance. It will be a complete cross-training program developed to help you finish a 400 yard swim, 11 mile bike ride and a 5K (3.1 miles) run. Our goal race is the Tri For Fun Sprint Triathlon on June 20, 2015 at Shadow Cliffs Regional Park. This 8-week training program will put an emphasis on creating a fun, comfortable and motivating atmosphere for learning how to improve your swimming, biking and running skills, and how to put it all together for the triathlon. This is a co-ed class.

Tri 101 Training Program Details

Group Workouts: 

  • Tuesday: Track workouts at Pleasanton Middle School, 6:30pm
  • Wednesday: Pool swim workouts at San Ramon Olympic Pool & Aquatic Center, 9900 Broadmoor Drive, San Ramon, 7pm-8pm
  • Saturday: Bike/run workouts at Fleet Feet, 8:00am
  • Open Water Practice: Wednesday 6/17, 6PM Shadow Cliffs Regional Park
  • Optional Open Water Practice: Saturday 6/13, 8AM, Shadow Cliffs Regional Park

Program Dates:

  • Program dates: April 29th - June 17th
  • Goal race is the Tri For Fun #1 at Shadow Cliffs Regional Park, Saturday, June 20
    • Race distances are 400 yard lake swim, 11 mile bike ride, 3.1 mile run

Tri 101 Training Program Participants Receive:

  • 7 Coached swim workouts at the pool with USA Triathlon Level 1 certified coach Ethan Falls
  • Swim workouts structured to beginner and advanced levels to increase endurance level
  • Swim Stroke refinement and technique drills
  • Under and over water filming of your freestyle stroke with expert analysis
  • 2 Open water (in swim lanes) practice swims at Shadow Cliffs Regional Park
  • Tuesday track workouts
  • Saturday bike/run (brick) workouts
  • Transition and gear clinic
  • Fleet Feet Sports swim cap
  • Custom Fleet Feet triathlon top
  • Weekly training emails providing education on form, pacing, fueling, and transition

Mandatory First Swim Workout: April 29th, 7PM at San Ramon Olympic Pool & Aquatic Center. What to expect: A 100 yard (or 50 yard) timed swim will be conducted to determine swim skills.

Meet the Coach: Coach Ethan Falls has been a competitive runner and triathlete for 20 years with a lifelong passion for healthy living. He is a USA Triathlon Level 1 certified coach and has competed in 3 Ironman distance triathlons.
