Winter/Spring Marathon Training Program - 2022

Welcome to Fleet Feet Chico Marathon Training Program. This program is designed to help both new and experienced runners reach their marathon goals in a positive and fun group environment.

This training program lines up with the dates of the Eugene Marathon, Bend Marathon and Avenue of the Giants Marathons, but it is also a great program for anyone looking to build their running endurance with an encouraging group.

While this marathon training program is filled with perks at its core – experienced coaches, goal-based training plans, insights from experienced marathon insiders, and premium race day experiences – it is really about building a community of people who share a passion and want to work together to reach their goals.  This program is about encouraging and motivating one another to do your best. Whether you are looking to finish, improve, or perform, this program will leave you a smarter, healthier, and happier runner.

Training Program Benefits

·       Twice weekly group workouts led by expert coaches and awesome mentors

·       E-mail support – the coaches will answer individual questions regarding training and running related issues

Training Program Logistics

·       First group workout on Saturday, January 8th at 7:30am at Fleet Feet Chico

·       2 Weekly group workouts on Wednesdays @ 6:00pm and Saturdays @ 7:30am (optional 

     5:30am Wednesdays most weeks)

·       Limited to 35 participants

·       Program Fee $160

·       Program will run for 17 weeks

·       Registration will be open from November 28th- January 16th, 2022

·       Target Races: Eugene Marathon, Bend Marathon and Avenue of the Giants (April/ May)

  

Minimum Activity Level

·       Ability to run 9 miles and currently exercising 3-5 times per week. 

·       Ability to run or run at a 12:00 min/mile pace or faster

 

Coach Information:

This program will be coach by Coach Paul Smith. Paul started running in the 5th grade and continued into High School, running for the Lassen High cross-country team. After high school Paul ran for two years on the Chico State cross country team.


After college Paul went on to coach at Sierra College for a year, two years at American River College, four years at Pleasant Valley High School and at Fleet Feet Chico for the last 15 years. Primarily focusing on the marathon for the past 10+ years. He personally has ran over 20 marathons and is a wealth of knowledge for our staff.
