2019 Fall Half Marathon Training
The Half Marathon (13.1 miles) training program is designed to further runners towards their fitness and running goals beyond the 5K and 10K distances but runners should be able to run 3-5 miles prior to the training program. It will include an education and practical impact of different training techniques and tools in order to further enjoy running and improve your performance. There will be occasional clinics covering a wide range of topical issues on running, health, wellness and nutrition from the area’s leading experts. The training group will meet on Tuesday nights at 6:30 pm and Saturday mornings at 7 am, each session will start from Fleet Feet unless advised in advance. Due to the nature of the training and the distances involved there will be more than one occasion where the training program may take place at alternate locations around Round Rock and Austin. Tuesday night runs will focus on speed or hill work and Saturday runs will focus on building distance. You will also receive a complete weekly schedule with 5 days of workouts listed to help prepare you for the challenge of running 13.1 miles. We may also decide to do a few distance races around town leading up to the goal race, the 3M Half Marathon. All race entries are the responsibility of the participant. The training program will last 16 weeks and will have an information night on September 24th, 2019 and the first training run will occur on October 1st, 2019.
