10K Training Spring 2018

Fleet Feet Running Club Savannah's 10K training program is designed for the currently-casual athlete who is ready to take their training to the next level. We'll delve a little deeper into the subjects that will help you go beyond the 5K: speed training, strength and conditioning, nutrition management, hydration, safety and visibility and more.  Throughout the eight-week program, you'll gradually increase your mileage as you train mentally and physically for the 6.2-mile distance. As always, our fabulous Fleet Feet coaches and mentors will be with you every step of the way.

This program meets three times a week during the training period. The workouts will last about an hour throughout the season. In addition to the workouts there are newsletters keeping you up to date, group support, free injury screening with Ledesma Sports Medicine and expert coaching/mentoring to help inspire and motivate you on this training journey. Plus, the camaraderie of others just like you!

10K Training Program Details:

  • Duration: May 8-June 30
  • Location: Fleet Feet Sports Savannah
  • When: Tuesday and Thursday, 6 p.m.; Saturday at 7 a.m.
  • Registration Fee: $105 (discount available for those who have trained with us in 2017 and 2018)
  • Goal Race: Any 10K late June to early July
  • Perks: Shirt, in-store discount days, special events/clinics, giveaways and more!

Based on the ability of those who sign up for the program, up to three training plans will be offered including:

  • 10K Finish Walk (can run/walk a 5K or run two miles)
  • 10K Finish Run (can run three miles or more)
  • 10K Fast (can run five miles or more and wish to PR the distance)

Please note not all the above training plans may be offered depending on the group's abilities. This program can be tailored to all levels. We ask that you start the program injury free. Participants can be under 18; a parent/guardian must be a registered participant of the program as well. We have amazing coaches for all levels who can help you modify the workouts if needed. They will also assist in pacing, workouts, racing strategies and much more. You may always switch back and forth between groups based on how you feel and if you find the plan too easy or too hard. The training schedule starts with shorter mileage and builds over the course of the program. It will never change suddenly or dramatically and you will always be well prepared for any increase in distance.

This is a safe, welcoming place for you to get fit, make friends and have fun! Fleet Feet Running Club Savannah encourages you to exercise at your own comfortable pace and we are focused on YOUR success! Our past 10K training group participants had fun, enjoyed the challenges, lost weight, gained confidence and made new friends. And, most are still running; some increasing their distance, getting faster, staying fit and smiling!
